Veteran Nollywood actress, Ayo Mogaji, has recently opened up about the reasons behind her departure from a 13-year marriage with former footballer Victor Oduleye.

Speaking candidly on the ‘Talk To Be’ podcast hosted by actress Biola Bayo, Mogaji revealed that the decision stemmed from issues of abuse.

Detailing her journey with Oduleye, Mogaji described initially falling in love but soon facing challenges of verbal and physical abuse.

“We fell in love, but the relationship became marred by frequent beatings over minor issues,” Mogaji shared during the interview. “Even while in England, the abusive language and mental anguish became unbearable. When it escalated, I would advise anyone in such a situation to leave.”

Mogaji reflected on the difficult moments, revealing a tactic she used to avoid confrontations at home. “There were times when, if it was just the two of us at home, I would leave the compound and wait until someone else arrived to avoid potential abuse.”

After enduring thirteen years together, Mogaji and Oduleye have been separated for the past four years.
