ADC: ‘I didn’t abuse you’ – Dele Momodu to Amaechi

Veteran journalist and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has informed African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential hopeful, Chibuike Amaechi, that he did not intend to insult the former Governor of Rivers State.

Momodu was reacting to what he termed as disparaging remarks made by Amaechi against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a recent interview with Trust TV, Amaechi criticized Atiku for claiming that he does not support zoning.

Both Amaechi and Atiku are vying for the presidential nomination within the ADC.

Reports suggest that influential members of the ADC are urging Amaechi to withdraw in favor of Atiku, a request that the former governor has refused.

During his interview, Amaechi conveyed his belief that he would secure the ADC nomination, dismissing the idea of a consensus.

In response to Amaechi’s remarks, Dele Momodu, speaking with Channels TV, advised the former governor to ‘cool temper’.

He said, “Mr. Amaechi, in name of the almighty God, should please cool his temper.

“A potential presidential candidate and possible president of Nigeria must watch his temper and temperament and doesn’t need to attack Atiku”.

Momodu’s response was also seen as abusive by the former Minister of Transportation and his camp and now a former presidential candidate himself, Momodu has come out to clear the air.

Sharing different pictures of himself and Amaechi, Momodu wrote on X, “My dear friend and brother, The Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, I did not abuse you please. I only pleaded with you not to insult Atiku, a perfect gentleman who, despite the age gap, continues to respect all of us. You know I’m as frank as you are and only spoke candidly the way true friends must speak to each other… Love and respect always…”
