Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that nothing can stop him from winning re-election in 2027 if he decides to contest.
The statement comes amid an ongoing political crisis in the state, particularly the power struggle between him and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The rift between the two political figures has caused divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, leading to an unresolved crisis within both the party and the state legislature.
Governor Fubara made the bold declaration on Tuesday during a solidarity visit from representatives of the three Local Government Areas that make up the Kalabari Ethnic Nationality.
The delegation openly endorsed him for re-election, citing his leadership style, dedication to good governance, and commitment to major infrastructural projects in the state. One of the key projects highlighted was the ₦200 billion Trans-Kalabari road project, which is expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activities in the riverine areas of Rivers State.
During his speech, Governor Fubara acknowledged the endorsement but maintained that his administration is more concerned with making a lasting impact rather than focusing on the length of time it spends in office.
He assured the people of Rivers State that his government remains committed to policies and projects that will enhance the state’s development and improve the welfare of its citizens.
