Nigerians across the country have been instructed to boycott the services of the giant telecommunications companies over the recent 50 per cent tarriff hike.

The call was made to Nigerians by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday, February 12.

The central working committee of the congress in a statement issued by the NLC president, Joe Ajaero said citizens should boycott the telecoms giants beginning from 11:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Ajaero said the CWC is demanding an immediate reversal of the telecoms tariff hike and that the status quo must be maintained until the companies complete its deliberations and reaches a conclusive agreement.

Condemning Federal Government’s failure to protect citizens from corporate exploitation, the NLC said the boycott would begin from 11 am and end by 2 pm every day until the end of February 2025.

He said, “If the tariff hike is not reversed by February 29, 2025, the NLC will commence a nationwide telecom shutdown from March 1, 2025.“
