Erstwhile Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday told President Bola Tinubu to stop making negative remarks about his immediate past successor Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
Some key government officials have been blaming the Buhari government for the country’s current economic situation, saying Tinubu inherited a failed economy.
However, former House of Representatives Speaker, Tambuwal, said, during a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ meeting in Sokoto over the weekend, that Tinubu’s government should stop dissociating itself from “Buhari’s administrative failures”.
According to him, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has no plans for securing the country but is only concerned about grabbing power. He said: “The same Tinubu government that has failed to secure Nigerians, and bring development is now lamenting and disassociating itself from Buhari’s administrative failure.
“There’s no reason for President Bola Tinubu to allow his aides or ministers to be castigating and attacking the APC government under Muhammadu Buhari which he tremendously benefitted from as a member of the party.
“President Tinubu should face the governing of Nigeria with serious-minded attention and not allow certain myopic tendencies in his government to destroy his good plan on securing our nation and bringing cohesion and development to our country if at all he is ready.”
Tambuwal urged PDP supporters not to be discouraged about the happening in the country, but instead to unite and ensure political understanding among themselves. He said: “Nobody can change our country like determination and commitment to a good cause as we are all known for, our party supporters should be united in bringing such to the party progress.
“You have been in the vanguard of change and political unity, this will be your guiding principles of peace and political unity with discipline and respect to everybody in the party.” The Chairman, Bello Goronyo, saluted Tambuwal for uniting the party.
