“Wike has killed APC in FCT through lopsided appointments” – Party members tell Tinubu

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have rejected the appointments made by the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Wike had, on Tuesday, appointed the Chairman and Commissioners of the FCT Civil Service Commission and Coordinators of some critical agencies.

In a press statement by Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide, made available to journalists in Abuja today, the leaders called for urgent attention to redress the lopsidedness and abandonment of the APC in FCT.

Comrade Ekekhide said Wike had killed APC in FCT by not appointing members of the party who have laboured to build the party and contributed to the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

His words: ”We are calling on the president to call the minister to order so that he can retrace his steps and start empowering the party, or else, the party will struggle to get 2% for the president in the 2027 presidential election and may lose the next area councils election if the situation remains this way.

”The minister has perfected the act of importing strangers from outside the FCT for critical appointments to FCT Secretariats and Agencies.

”For record purposes, the Hon. Minister has just given an appointment to the immediate past State Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Hon. Felix Obuah, as Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC. Can you imagine somebody that knows next to nothing about FCT?

”We want to let the president and the minister know that we have capable people playing politics in the FCT who have held political appointments before and have the capacity to occupy any position in government.

”We want to put it on record that we have people from all the geopolitical zones playing politics in the FCT who are eminently qualified to hold political office in the FCT and at the national level.

”We reject in strong terms the popular saying “Monkey dey Work, Baboon dey Chop” This time, Monkey Work, Monkey must Chop.”

Comrade Ekekhide added that the implication of not appointing FCT APC members was a call to lose in subsequent elections in the Nigerian capital.
