INEC Announces Recess In Imo Before Declaring Final Winner As Uzodinma Clears 27 LGAs

The returning officer for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State has announced a one-hour recess before the final announcement is made on the winner of Saturday’s election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Professor Abayomi Fashina who made the announcement on Sunday said when the collation is reconvened, the winner of the 2023 Imo governorship election will be declared.

Before the recess was announced, however, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma won the election in all the 27 local government areas of the state as announced at the collation centre in Owerri the state capital.

Three major candidates for the Imo State election are Governor Hope Uzodinma (All Progressives Congress – APC), Senator Samuel Anyanwu ( Peoples Democratic Party – PDP), and Senator Athan Achonu of the Labour Party.

From the results announced, Editor reports that the candidate of the APC, Uzodinma, led his major opponents by a wide margin.
