The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will unveil the results of the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) on 7 August 2023 (today).

The Head of the Public Affairs unit of the examination body, Moyosola Adesina, on Sunday, confirmed to Premium Times that results would be released today.

The upcoming release brings hope to those aiming for tertiary institution admission. Many who took the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) did not provide the needed SSCE results in their applications, stating they awaited the results.

The UTME was held in May by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), with several tertiary institutions beginning their admission procedures.

A total of 1,621,853 candidates across 20,851 government and private schools registered for the SSCE, which lasted for seven weeks, spanning 8 May to 23 June.

The Head of Nigeria’s WAEC office, Patrick Areghan mentioned in May that the results would be out “45 days after the conduct of the last paper.”

He informed further stated that the grading for the 76 subjects, consisting of 197 papers, concluded on 1 August.

Areghan added that most examiners completed their marking a few days before the deadline.
