Ibrahim Sarkin Fada, the district head of Kasuwar Daji in Zamfara State’s Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area, was taken hostage by gunmen in the early hours of Thursday.
Malam Audu Mohammed, a native of the region, verified that the gunmen, who attacked Kasuwar Daji hamlet in huge numbers, proceeded right to the home of the Zamfara district head, kidnapping him and taking him to their camp.
In order to scare the villagers who wished to save their village chief, according to Bello, the bandits opened fire repeatedly.
He said, “I was in my house when I heard gunshots around 2:30 to 3:00 am.”
“I was called later around 4 am by a friend who told me that our district head was abducted.”
The security agents were yet to comment on the issue as of the time of filing this report.
