2. One killed as gunmen attack PDP campaign rally in Enugu

At least one person was reported dead and several others injured as unknown gunmen attacked a campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State on Wednesday. A source said that the assailants stormed Awgu Ward one campaign venue of the PDP and opened fire on party members.

3. Speculations as Obasanjo visits Amosun in Abeokuta

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday visited former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Obasanjo visited Amosun at the Ibara GRA residence of the former governor in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

6. Old Naira notes: Nigerians will lose hard-earned money over CBN’s deadline – Experts

Economic experts have said Nigerians would lose their hard-earned money over the Central Bank of Nigeria’s refusal to extend the January 31 deadline for phasing out N200, N500 and N1000 notes. Recall that the Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, said there is no going back on the deadline shortly after the Monetary Policy Meeting on Tuesday.

7. NAUTH doctors embark on strike over a persistent assault by patients

Medical doctors working in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), under the aegis of Association of Resident Doctors have begun a five-day warning strike. The body said the action is as a result of attacks on its members by relatives of patients.

8. Zamfara: Police arrest 2 bandits’ informants, recover weeds

The Zamfara State Police Command has revealed that it has arrested two bandits’ informants with dangerous drugs and other substances suspected to be Indian hemp. This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital by the state police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu.

Chelsea want to sell winger Hakim Ziyech to AS Roma and not to a Premier League rival, The Sun reports. The Blues are holding out for Roma to buy out-of-favour Ziyech in an effort not to sell the Moroccan to a Premier League rival.

Popular Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, a.k.a Tems, has been nominated for the 95th edition of the Oscars award, scheduled to hold on March 12 2023. This was announced in the 2023 nomination list released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Twitter handle on Tuesday.
