The Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday filed terrorism charges against two aides of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho.

The charges were filed before at the Federal High Court in Abuja,the Editorngr.com has learnt.

In the suit no FHC/ABJ/CR/305/2021, which was dated August 31, 2021, the DSS through its lawyer S.M. Bello, filed a five count terrorism charges against Noah Oyetunji and Amudat Babatunde (female).

The secret police accuse Oyetunji of possession of fire arms for terrorism-related activities while Babatunde promoted terroristic acts through her Facebook account.

This is coming over two months after the DSS had arrested the duo alongside ten others during a deadly raid on the Ibadan home of Sunday Igboho.

Reacting to the fresh charges, their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi told PUNCH that, “The charges are baseless, vexatious, shameful and without limbs.”

Recall that Olajengbesi had berated the DSS for disregarding court orders.

On August 4, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had granted bail to the 12 aides after spending over 60 days in detention.

After meeting their bail conditions, the secret police refused to release the aides alleging that they were helping their boss to stockpile arms to cause chaos in the country.

But after so many outcries, the DSS, last week, released 10 of the 12 aides of Igboho following their arrest since July 1.

Olajengbesi in a letter to the DSS, asked the secret agency to immediately release the remaining two aides in their custody.

He advised the secret police to obey court orders and release his remaining clients, Amudat Habibat Babatunde and Jamiu Noah Oyetunji.

The lawyer stated that the failure of the DSS to comply with court orders will be damaging Nigeria’s reputation in the community of nations.
