There was palpable tension in Osogbo as political thugs attacked some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) outside the premises of the state party secretariat located at the Ogo-Oluwa.
The political thugs allegedly burgled into some shops selling bottled drinks around the APC secretariat and took bottles to attack each other.
Police who had earlier been drafted to the secretariat after the Saturday morning crisis, shot to disperse the thugs and members of the party who are at the secretariat to submit petitions against the recent ward congress in the party.
Shops, businesses located in the area were shut down as fear erupted among the resident of the area.
The Osun State police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the gunshot said that orderliness has been restored in the area.
He said, “Some thugs tried to attack some people with bottle.”
Earlier on Saturday morning, some members of the party had besieged the party secretariat to submit petitions as the party’s Ward Congress Appeal Committee resumes sittings.
Nurudeen Ajetunmobi, aka Abalawa, a supporter of Governor Gboyega Oyetola was attacked at the party secretariat after he refused to remove his Fez cap branded with “OYETOLA 4+4” and sustained a head injury.
Thereafter, Governor Oyetola appealed to the members of the ruling APC in the state to give peace a chance and allow the ongoing appeal process run its full course and directed security operatives to take charge of the party secretariat to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
