The residence of the former Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, has been attacked by some hoodlums in the state, EKO HOT BLOG has gathered.

It was gathered that the residence of the former commissioner located at Oyewole Road, Mukero bus stop, Agege in Lagos, was attacked by hoodlums suspected to be supporters of one of the councillorship candidates in his ward in the early hours of Sunday.

Opeifa, The Editor Nigeria learnt, has been at the forefront of the campaign against anti-party activities of some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Ward D of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area.

The candidate of the ruling APC for the Ward was Wahab Adeoye.

It was, however, gathered that some party leaders in the ward were not favourably disposed towards Adeoye as they shifted their support to the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Afolabi Omotunde.

The Editor Nigeria further learnt that there were reported cases of some APC leaders openly campaigning for the YPP candidate during the Local Government election in Lagos State on Saturday.

The former Lagos commissioner was said to have become a target for the hoodlums after he monitored and mounted spirited efforts to prevent rigging of the election.

Opeifa said, “On Saturday evening, the hoodlums supporting the YPP candidate took the people of Oyewole hostage, attacking people at will. They gathered in front of my house and converged there. They later left.”

The Editor Nigeria gathered that the ex-commissioner later left his residence for another house before the hoodlums reportedly came back around 3am and attacked his Agege residence.

Opeifa alleged that the hoodlums fired gunshots and invaded his house with stones and other dangerous weapons.

“I was the main target but I thank God I was not at home,” the former commissioner said.
