The Federal Government on Wednesday approved a draft supplementary budget of N895,842,462,917 for the year 2021 to cover COVID-19 vaccines and the procurement of military equipment.

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa.

According to Ahmed, the supplementary budget holds an aggregate sum of N83.56bn for COVID-19 vaccines covering 30 million doses of vaccine from Johnson and Johnson and other ancillary expenditures for storage and logistics.

This is separate from the N1.69bn for the Nigeria Comprehensive AIDS Programme.

The minister further stated that N770.60bn has been allocated for the defence and the security agencies to bolster their capacity to address the current spate of insecurity in the country.
