Some prospective NYSC Members have reportedly contracted the dreaded Covid19 virus.

138 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
This was made known by the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) press conference in Abuja.

The NCDC stated that NYSC orientation camps across the country were successfully reopened, adding that none of those who tested positive were allowed into the camps.
Ihekweazu said: “A total of 34,785 corps members and members of the camp communities have been tested so far in the last weeks of which only 138 was found positive, which is 0.4 per cent prevalence and 1 in 200 people.”

He said those who tested positive were either managed at home or in a treatment centre depending on if they had symptoms and what state they were in.
The DG said the next challenge would be how to work with education stakeholders to ensure safe reopening of the universities.

Theeditorng.com reports that the NCDC on Monday evening, 23rd November 2020, confirmed new cases of coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.
The agency confirmed 56 new cases of COVID-19 infection via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

The development brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 66,439 which includes 62,241 discharged cases and 1,168 deaths.
