“Yoruba Always Destroy Their Warriors” – Gani Adams Sends Strong Warning To Igboho

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams on Tuesday warned Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Sunday Igboho against being used and dumped by politicians.

This is as he lamented that the recent popularity gained by Igboho after issuing quit notice to some Fulani herdsmen in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State could just become a tool in the hand of some politicians if not properly handled.

Adams made the submission when he appeared as a guest on Tuesday’s edition of The Morning Show on Arise TV.

The Aare Onakakanfo boasted that he has been in the business of fighting for the liberation of the Yoruba race since he was 23 years old and has observed the way people can easily turn against heroes when they feel they are no longer relevant despite such persons having genuine concerns to fight for their people.

He said: “The same people who attacked and condemned us in 2015 using social media are now coming to portray themselves as activist to use Sunday Igboho.

“Now, we woke up to hear his (Sunday) house got burnt. Who are the people that went to burn Sunday Igboho house and not in the forest?

“The issue with Sunday Igboho’s braveness now is that he has been used to destroy some political enemies.”

“I started this struggle when I was 23 years, OPC was not even formed then, I risked everything for Yorubaland. I didn’t surrender … how can Sunday Igboho use his bravery of one day to destroy somebody who has been in struggle for 28 years?

“Yoruba always destroy their warriors in the end. You know what happened to Abiola now even as the 14th Aare of Yoruba land.”

Adams also noted that security operatives have been after his life on several occassions due to his stand in defence of the Yoruba nation and Igboho shouldn’t be surprised that despite his current popularity, some people including security operatives might go after him one day for their political selfishness.

“It was not only Sunday Igboho that security operatives targeted for arrest, I was the number one person for arrest, I was targeted for some political reasons,” Gani Adams noted.

Asked during the programme if he and Sunday Igboho have spoken in connection with the plight and challenges of Yorubas as a result of activities of criminal herdsmen, the aare answered: “I have only met Sunday Igboho once and that was at a function. The other times we spoke were on phone.”
