Rising Insecurity: Reps In Rowdy Session Over Motion To Summon Buhari
Reps In Rowdy Session Over Motion To Summon Buhari Over Rising Insecurity.
Crisis erupted in the House of Representatives over a motion calling for President Muhammadu Buhari to be invited to answer questions on rising insecurity in the country.
Ahmed Jaha, who was one of the sponsors of the motion, pointed out that the prayer that the House invites the President to brief it on an effort to contain insecurity in the country was omitted.
Consequently, the lawmaker moved that the President be invited to appear before lawmakers in respect of the spate of insecurity.
Theeditorng.com had earlier reported that during the congressional hearing on Tuesday, December 1, one of the lawmakers submitted a motion to invite the president to the National Assembly.
But the incident provoked some of Buhari’s supporters, causing a rift between the lawmakers.
However, the demand for the president to declare a state of emergency in the north-east and north-west has been welcomed by lawmakers.
House of Representatives members then proceeded to meet to resolve the differences that had risen over the motion.
