Gbajabiamila Meets Osinbajo, SGF Mustapha Over Proposed NLC, TUC Strike

Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Sunday met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha.

The meeting was held due to the planned industrial action and protests by organized labour scheduled to commence on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Theeditorng.com reports that the meeting between the trio was held at the official residence of the Vice-President inside the Presidential Villa.
This was disclosed in a post on Twitter by the speaker of the House of Reps.
“After my meeting with Labour I met with the VP and SGF.

“We had fruitful discussions and I am hopeful tomorrow’s strike will be averted,” Gbajabiamila wrote.

Recall that the speaker had earlier on Sunday met with President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba; and his TUC counterpart, Quadri Olaleye, among others.

He had warned against the dire consequences of shutting down the government at this time, urging the workers to suspend the planned action.

Gbajabiamila stated that the House of Representatives shares the same thoughts and philosophy with the NLC as regards the plight of workers and the House of Reps championed the cause of free electricity and had advised that the hike in tariff be put in effect from 2021.
