Bandits storm school in Niger State, kidnap students

Scores of students at Government Science College (GSC) Kagara, in Niger State, have been abducted by bandits.
The armed men stormed the school in military uniform Tuesday night.
Theeditorngr.com reports that GSC has close to 1,000 students.
The attackers overpowered the security guard on duty, before whisking away a number of them.
“Information reaching us is that 27 students are still missing. We don’t know the number of teachers at the moment. We don’t want to put numbers that will turn out contradictory, but efforts are being made to rescue them,” Mary Noel Barje, the chief press secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, said.
A headcount is being conducted at the school to ascertain the actual number of missing students.
It was gathered that some escaped after the raid.
Tracing of the bandits’ movement has commenced, while NAF aircraft is hovering to track the location of the students.
