The Rivers State House of Assembly has declined to confirm four of the commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Siminalayi Fubara
The nominees appeared before lawmakers for screening on Monday at the Assembly complex in Port Harcourt.

Following the exercise, the House approved the appointments of Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
However, four other nominees were rejected. They include Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree.
Lawmakers explained that Professor Alasia was not cleared due to what they described as poor performance. Alasia previously served as the Chief Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
Otonye Amachree was also denied confirmation after the Assembly said it received more than 11 petitions from members of his community concerning his involvement in local issues.
In the case of Mrs. Deemua, lawmakers said she failed to present her tax clearance documents during the screening process.
Tamuno Williams was stepped down after being accused of misleading the public regarding the activities of the Assembly.
