2. The Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Moses Sule has been sacked by the state election petition tribunal. Sule, who was elected on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, platform in the last election, was sacked alongside Danjuma Azi, a member representing Jos North-West constituency in the assembly.

3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that the current spate of coups across the African continent shows that democracy needs to be ”rejigged” and put in a proper direction. Jonathan made this known during a Democracy Dialogue 2023 organised by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) with the theme: “Breaking New Grounds In The Democracy Development Nexus in Africa” in Yenagoa.

4. A Federal High Court in Kano on Friday ordered the Kano State Government to pay the Incorporated Trustees of Eid Grand Shop Owners the sum of N30 billion as compensation for the unlawful demolition of their properties. The judge, Samuel Amobeda, who gave the order, said the action of the Kano State Government against the applicants was barbaric and unconstitutional.

7. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has charged the All Progressives Congress, APC, to come clean on the desperation by its lawyers in the United States to conceal certain vital details regarding the academic records of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Chicago State University (CSU) from the public. The opposition said this in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Friday.

8. The decision of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to sack the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Managing Director, Najeed Abdulsalam, caused protests in Abuja. Staff of the company protested the sack of the agency’s MD on Friday.
