LABOUR’S FAILURE TO CALL A GENERAL STRIKE STRENGTHENS THE BRUTISH BUHARI REGIME!!

KADUNA STUDENTS’ KILLING, ELECTRICITY TARIFF HIKE AND LOOMING FUEL PRICE HIKE CALLS FOR ACTION!!!

FOR A NATIONAL SOLIDARITY DAY OF ACTION BY NIGERIAN STUDENTS AND YOUTH AGAINST KADUNA STUDENTS’ KILLING ON JULY 10, 2021

TIME TO UNITE ALL FORCES FOR TOTAL LIBERATION!!!!

I am seized of the Press release of the State Security Services under the Presidency claiming responsibility for the early morning attack on the residence of “Oodua Nation Now” agitator, Sunday Igboho in which 2 of his guards were gunned down and many allies of his arrested. I am also aware that the State Security Services have declared him wanted .

This is coming closely on the heels of the arrest by “interception” of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) , Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

While one do not subscribe to the alienating language and pro-ruling elite bent of Sunday Igboho, self -determination is a universal democratic right.

It is now clear as noonday that the Buhari regime wants to puts down every separatist agitations in the country in a river of blood.

This attack on private residences and “recovery” of few rifles which to public knowledge of Igboho’s activities are employed for use of demonstrating the need for self-defence by interior communities at the face of relentless reactionary attacks by bandits begs reason.

I hold that this is the heightening of the bestial tyranny of the Buhari regime that has become completely irrational and unidirectional in tackling the national question crisis facing the country.

I am of the firm view that what has given the regime wide field to forage in its pursuit of tyranny is the failure of the central labour bereaucracy to challenge the avalanche of economic and undemocratic attacks with a 24 hour general strike at the minimum , despite standing NEC mandate to do so.

Between the 22nd June NLC NEC resolutions and now, the attacks in Kaduna State which formed basis for the mandate to call a general strike without notice has taken unbelievable proportions.

According to media reports , two students of Kaduna State College of Education were gunned down during protests against fee hike which is being implemented by the El-Rufai-led regime .

Needless to say , workers are still laid off . Yet, the central labour bereaucracy has refused to lift a finger .

With Electricity Tariff Hike commencing yesterday, the raft of attacks on living conditions continue unabated . Petroleum price is already being forecasted by NNPC to be pegged at N260 naira.

Mass resistance must be built from below, first against the central labour bereaucracy that is holding down the rank and file of the labour movement to launch an onlslaught against their rampaging class enemy .

A campaign to rally the rank and file of the labour movement to confront the central labour bereaucracy and replace them with a fighting and democratic leadership must be built in the coming days.

Workers must not wait till the next Quadrinniel Delegates’ Conference to boot out complacent and collaborationist leadership.

Such a rank and file based working class based campaign must equally raise the question of armed , democratic self -defence workers and people’s guards must be built to defend the fighting organisations of the working class and the fighting youth from being routed.

The rank and file of the working class must also appeal to the growing self -determination movements breaking out across the length and breadth of the country with the programme of recognition of the right to self -determination within the overall revolutionary working people’s strategy of throwing out of power the entire ruling elite and enthroning a genuine , democratic and egalitarian socialist milieu which will enforce the right of oppressed ethnic nationalities to self-determination outside of the prisonhouse of capitalism.

A National Solidarity Day of Action of National Association of Nigerian Students’ , Zone D, National Association of University Students with other willing forces across campuses in Nigeria to demand justice for the killing of the Kaduna Students on July 10, 2021, the 22nd Anniversary of the July 10,1999 Killing of Great Ife Students can lay basis for a reinvigorated action as the attacks mount.

This calls for an urgent Virtual All-Nigerian Students’ Summit wherein these proposals of action can be discussed. This must also include placing a 7 days’ ultimatum on the El-Rufai-led Kaduna State Government to do justice in the matter of the killed students.

Concerted pressure of fighting students ‘forces , rank and file workers and struggling youth bodies is now needed to be directed to the central labour bereaucracy to act decisively and call a 24 hour warning general strike in the minimum to draw the battalions of the working class into the arena of class struggle and put their destiny in their hands.
