Mercy Eke Reveals Why She Got Stuck With Ike

The first female winner of the Big Brother Naija reality TV Show, Mercy Eke, has opined that romantic relationships from the show are scams and strategies.

Mercy made this known during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, stating why she got stuck in her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Ike Onyema.

Recall that Ike and Mercy were an item during the reality show but the relationship failed to sail outside the show, which dashed the hope of many fans.

Speaking on the relationship, Mercy said if she had known her fanbase was strong, she wouldn’t have bothered getting involved in a relationship with Ike.

According to the reality TV star, even when their relationship wasn’t working she couldn’t move away from Ike because of the money involved.

On her Igbo accent, Mercy said those expecting her to speak with an American accent must be insane stressing she grew up in Owerri the capital of Imo State.

In her words: “BBNaija relationships are the biggest scam, it was even original for me initially, as a matter of fact, if I had known that I was a strong housemate and that people loved me for me, I wouldn’t have bothered getting involved with him.

“I wouldn’t say it was a strategy, for me, we flowed with it but we had to put up a show even when not happy for people who aren’t even in relationships. If it is not working out, you move but in my case I couldn’t, I had to be there cos of money, otherwise, I won’t have my complete money.

“I schooled in Owerri, primary and secondary. It was only the National Youth Service that made me leave Owerri. How do they expect me to speak in the US or American accent? you must be really mad.”
