Police: Three Die After Woman Allegedly Poison Four Stepchildren In Yobe
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, Khadija Yakubu, for allegedly poisoning and killing three of her stepchildren in Malaria Huta community, Potiskum Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, in a statement on Friday said the suspect poisoned the tea drank by four children of her husband’s first wife.
The victims were identified as Umar Haruna, 12; Maryam Haruna, 11; Ahmed Haruna, nine and seven-year-old Zainab Haruna.
Abdulkareem, “Findings indicated that the children have been rushed to a hospital after taking the tea prepared by the suspect, Khadija Yakubu, in the early hours of Friday. Three of the victims died while receiving treatments and one remained unconscious.
The suspect has been apprehended and is in custody. Investigation has begun to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the incident. She will be charged after investigation.”
