SaharaReporters also revealed how Obasa awarded contracts to himself using different companies owned by him and how he got the Assembly to approve millions of naira for printing of invitation cards for the inauguration of lawmakers two months after the event held.

Following the revelation by SaharaReporters, civil society organisations petitioned the EFCC and staged a peaceful rally at the office of the commission in Lagos.

Consequently, the state assembly set up panel to investigate Obasa, the assembly cleared Obasa of any wrong doing, saying he followed due processes in all his dealings.

But the outcome of the probe was rubbished by groups and residents alike who claimed the result of the probe was predictable, the added that they knew nothing concrete can come out of the probe because those who made up the panel were Obasa’s friend and chances are that they might be linked to the corruption allegations against the speaker. They averred that it was not possible for Obasa to be a judge in his own case.

This development further heightened the call to have Obasa investigation by the EFCC.
