Oyo Guber: Accord Party Sack Executives For Endorsing PDP’s Makinde

The endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde for a second term in office in Oyo State by the Accord Party (APC) has caused a crack in the party ahead of March 18 polls.

The Editor Nigeria understands that the national leadership of the Accord Party (AP) held a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Thursday in Abuja, where it resolved to sack the Oyo State executives for endorsing the incumbent governor of the state for a second tenure.

The Editor Nigeria recalls that Makinde is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Before the gubernatorial election was postponed from March 11 to 18, some leaders of the AP in Oyo had endorsed Makinde as their preferred candidate.

Their endorsement was coming while another faction of the party had endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, at a separate event.

Speaking on the divisive developments, the party’s National Chairman, Muhammad Lawal Nalado, told newsmen on Thursday that the top echelon of the party had sacked the Oyo State party Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo; Secretary, Hon Yinka Dairo and the entire executive committee members for endorsing Makinde against the party’s candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

The party also constituted a five-man caretaker committee with Alhaji Isiaka Salami (chairman), Bashiru Ayobami (secretary) Fatai Salawu, Bimpe Martins and Ayodele Oyajide as members.
