Jubilation As Kidnaped NTA Reporter Regains Freedom

There was jubilation among workers of the Nigeria Television Authority, Port Harcourt Zonal office, following the release of one of their own, Mrs Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped by gunmen in Woji, Rivers State last Tuesday. The Editor report.

Onyia, a nursing mother, had spent five days in captivity after the hoodlums blocked the vehicle she was in, in company with her colleagues, forced her into their vehicle and took her away.

The Manager, News, NTA Port Harcourt, Zonal Office, Uche Njoku, said, “She has been released. I spoke to her husband who said she is back. I have been dancing. We thank God.”

Also, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Stanley Job, said, “This is what we have been praying for; her safe return.”

It was not clear if any ransom was paid as nobody was willing to talk on the issue.
