FIFA 2022 World Cup: What Happened To Kizz Daniel’s Performance At Qatar?



Many fans of singer Kizz Daniel were confused on Sunday night, November 20, 2022, when he didn’t perform at the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup as he earlier announced.

Recall that the 28-year-old Buga crooner, Kizz Daniel confirmed he will be performing at the world cup opening ceremony in an Instagram post on Friday, November 11 where he posted photos of himself and other artists that will be performing.

Captioning his post, he wrote: “This one is for Africa. This one is for Vado nation. See you in Qatar World Cup on 23/11/2022.”


However, when the opening ceremony of the event in Qatar gave a visual spectacle to fans across the globe, with the lead vocalist of the Korean pop band BTS, Jung Kook, lighting up the Al Bayt Stadium with his performance alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi, Kizz daniel was absent.

Those who thought Kizz Daniel was supposed to perform at the opening ceremony stormed Twitter to react.

Julio Kitoko wrote: “Shey be Davido, Kizz Daniel & Co suppose to perform for the World Cup opening ceremony… wetin come to happen wey we no see them.”

Ajoke wrote: “I thought Kizz Daniel said he’ll be performing at the World Cup?”


Fai Boris added: “I did not see. Kizz Daniel or Davido at the World Cup opening ceremony. After all the hype from Nigerians and me in particular, looking forward for him to ginger and Buga the crowd. What went wrong? Did lack of electricity stop Nigerians from not being updated in time?”

“I thought you people said Kizz Daniel and Davido were going to perform at the World Cup open ceremony? What happened?” Steeze asked.

Kakosa wrote: “Ah did Kizz Daniel perform at the World cup opening ceremony? I missed that session.”

Roland wrote: “Kizz Daniel what happened to your performance at the world cup?”


The ‘Buga’ star who confirmed he will be performing at the event has however noted that he was billed to perform on November 23 and not 20 as speculated.
