Fani-Kayode Reveals What Nigeria Needs To Remain One
Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode warned that Nigeria needs a lot of bridge-building and understanding to remain one undivided country.
The Editor Nigeria reports that the former minister under the President Olusegun Obasanjo made this known in a post on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
Fani-Kayode in his social media post lamented that the “fault lines & cracks are getting wider by the day.â€
According to the PDP chieftain, the allure if ethnic nationalism appears to be unstoppable.
He wrote: “Our nation rests on a fragile foundation. The fault lines & cracks are getting wider by the day.
“The rise & powerful allure of ethnic nationalism appears to be unstoppable.
“It will take a lot of bridge-building & mutual understanding to keep Nigeria one over the next few years.â€
A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Shehu Sani, has also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to secessionists from different parts of the country.
In a post on his Twitter handle, Sani asked the federal government to address their grievances.
While describing secessionists’ conduct as nothing but infantile misadventures, the former asked the government to pay attention to their agitations.
He reminded the secessionists that disintegrating a country is by far easier said than done.
According to him, “The Secessionists threats and their wild conducts are condemnable, unconscionable, hollow and nothing but infantile misadventures.
“Breaking a country is not as seamless as cutting a cake. However, their grievances should be listened to and addressed, and they shouldn’t be persecuted.â€
