Breaking: 2023: Bloomberg releases poll results, Peter Obi most-favoured
Bloomberg has released a poll indicating the lead of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi ahead of others.
The poll which was conducted by Premise Data Corporation for Bloomberg News and published, Wednesday, showed the Labour party candidate is most-favoured among other contestants as he came tops in choices of prospective voters.
It said a clear majority of respondents said they intend to vote for Obi, a former state governor, in elections scheduled for February.
The media organisation noted that most respondents claimed they trust the election to be run fairly and think their vote will make a difference, despite the general disenchantment about Nigeria’s trajectory.
”Of the 92% of participants who said they’ve decided how to vote, 72% named Obi as their first choice. Of those who are still unsure, 45% said the 61-year-old is their preferred candidate”, Bloomberg announced.
According to the San Francisco-headquartered data company, the poll surveyed 3,973 Nigerians from September 5-20, and respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender and location across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
It also added that results were weighed against the original quotas to ensure national representation, noting that about 44% of Nigerians own smartphones, according to the Alliance for Affordable Internet.
Meanwhile, the Poll stated that candidates of two parties the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party fared less well.
It showed Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress garnered 16% of decided voters and 23% of those yet to make up their minds while Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party tailed at 9% and 17%, respectively.’
